흔들리는 나뭇가지에 꽃 한번 피우려고

눈은 얼마나 많은 도전을 멈추지 않았으랴

싸그락 싸그락 두드려 보았겠지

난분분 난분분 춤추었겠지

미끄러지고 미끄러지길 수백 번,

바람 한 자락 불면 휙 날아갈 사랑을 위하여

햇솜 같은 마음을 다 퍼부어 준 다음에야

마침내 피워 낸 저 황홀 보아라

봄이면 가지는 그 한번 덴 자리에

세상에서 가장 아름다운 상처를 터뜨린다

To bring a single blossom to a trembling branch,

how many trials must the snow have refused to abandon.

It must have tapped there,rustling, rustling,

must have dancedin a flurry, in a flurry,

slipping,and slipping again,hundreds of times.

For a love that one breath of wind could sweep away,

only after pouring out all of its cotton-soft heart

did it finally bring forth that rapture.

And in spring,

from the very place

once touched by that cold,

the branch bursts open

the most beautiful wound

in the world
