A fire in the barley stubble
leaps up through the fields
and lights the open land—
yet even within those flames
that person is nowhere to be seen.
Someday—ah, someday—
tearing through this dreary darkness,
that person will bloom like a flower through tears,
like the flowers on Namsan.
What darkness has covered that person?
All day, this whole day, I wander in search,
until even the animals are finding their way home.
Yet on the field path at dusk,
the one I long for
is nowhere to be seen.
